setups and laptimes question Empty
PostSubject: setups and laptimes question   setups and laptimes question EmptyThu 1 Jul - 17:33

Can anyone tell me where to get cars setups for tracks like Le Mans 2004 and Brianza, Brands Hatch etc. for the Courage C65 Belmondo. (Edit sorry wrong car)

I have a feeling I'm super slow and even worse online other cars of the same class just seems to fly by in a straight, even if I do a full boost. The worst is at Le Mans where I seems to be about 30 seconds behind a normal acceptable time.

or maybe I just suck and that's the reason why! haha (whoever was gonna say that, too late I already did!) :ptdr:

cheers!

I've found quite a few setups for the Epsilon Euskadi on rfactorcentral, but can't seem to find any C65 setups. Through google nothing either.

I guess I'll have to do some research and make my own, don't know how easy that'll be! If anybody has some tips for where to start that would be great. I love racing this mod, just would like to make better laptimes.

Cheers!

Well if i can give you a piece of advice:
-> First, on LM 2004 you will never be able to realize realistic laptimes: the track is really false (Tertre Rouge esses, Mulsanne's straight chicanes, Indianapolis-Arnage, Porsche Curve, Karting Esses etc...)
-> BUT : to improve your pace : decrease the wings inclinations : 1 at the front and maybe 3 at the rear (maybe less)
-> Then, lengthen your gearbox : you should turn at arnage in 1st gear and be just below the red at the breaking point before the first Mulsanne's stright chicane.
-> Spread the other gears regularly between the 1st end the 6th !

Thus, you should be able to overtake the AIs at least. Afterwards, to increase the driveability you should play on suspension, but that becomes harder :lol4:

Thanks Steve! :)

Very helpful advice, I'll give the wing and gearbox changes a try.

About Le Mans,

[LM 2004 you will never be able to realize realistic laptimes: the track is really false]

Does this mean it gives false results compared to real world or is it that the track is poorly modded?

My best time so far is 3min54sec, which seems really slow....

That means the track is not perfectly well modded. I don't like to criticiez anyones work, all the more because this track is quite "old" on rF and its autor gave some really good things the rF community. But this one is not perfect even if good :lol4:

ok I know what you mean. Its a nice track but a little dated maybe. Still its fun to drive and I have no lag on it which can't be said for all tracks.

Funny thing though, when watching other people's lap, they kinda look like they're floating around and drifting. Is this just the way the replays look?

mm can be a lag?

Well, regarding LM 2004, yes is nice, but you can't compare real timelaps with yours, because virtual track is too much long and there are some turns really different than real.

Actually I compared my time to the Enduracers league times at Racedepartment, which are 3min30 to 3min40sec. wow!

Maybe I just need more practice, but I don't know how ever to make up 30 sec without crashing out!

yes you need only practise and..of course a good setup! :lol4: Now i don't remember but..using GT cars i'm around 4 mins, but i'm not 100% sure. I need to redo some new hotlaps ;)

wow the wing modification made the driving much more easy and stable. What are the consequences of these changes? Bottoming out maybe?

I thought to now try the gearbox changes. Any example values I should put in as I've never attempted this?

low grip at low speed corners and..yes, some oversteer. :lol4:
If you feel this, try to set a bit softer rear ammo!

For gearbox, well, try to set long gears, and..try to do some laps. You need to take maximum speed in 6th gear just before braking point. No way to give you better infos, you need to try it! :salut:

ok I think I know what you mean about the gears.

"Ammo" means springs? Soften the back springs to avoid oversteer or understeer?

Yes, springs :lol4:
Well, if you use low aero settings for wings, you try to work on:

1) anti-roll bars: sett an higher value on front or lower value for rear
2) springs: higher value on front or lower value for rear

If you use softer settings on front and higher settings on rear you'll feel oversteer; vice versa using higher settings on front and softer settings on rear you'll feel understeer.

If you use low aero settings, you need to increase grip in low speed corners, so you can try to work on rear, using soft settings.

You can try to work on differential; this one is imho not simple to set but...well, if your car is
too much nervous, try to lower settings. Lower settings are for wet and low grip conditions ;) vice versa if there are sun and good track conditions i usually use high values for all three settings for differential.
