What makes you think that ? The car has made no race yet, how can you be so affirmative.

It's not the ugliest car ever, but surely nothing like the car we expected from Aston Martin.

I reckon the front turned out to be so ugly, that they decided to leave the sides in black CF to conceal some of the shapes.

let's face that for almost all new cars appearing the reacting is often "it's not that bad", witch is the polite way to say that it's very disapointing.

Bad era start

It would look better if the Carbon was Gulf blue aswell.

e: just read they did that to hide the bulkness.

I can't agree. The R18 is by far the best looking Audi since R8C of 1999. HPD looks great, Lola Coupe looks great. Peugeot looks ok. It may be a bad era compared to the looks of Group C and earlier cars, or compared to 90-s GT1s, but 2011 beats the 00-s.
It's the fin that looks stupid. But it may be dropped after a year or so, as it doesn't seem to work that well. Peugeot had 2 huge crashes while testing the new car due to rear suspension failures. The rumours have it that both times the car got sideways and took off. Gene mentioned that he's happy to be alive after having 'the worst crash in his career'.

In my opinion, ACO should find a different (and better solution) of the take-off problem, and also change the rules to outlaw F1-style noses i.e. apply minimum tangent radius rule to all bodywork ahead of the driver feet and between the front wheels, as well as limit number of apertures in that aera by 1 on each side to used exclusively for brake cooling. That would ensure the nice curvy noses a-la 911 GT1.

R18 has really a fat front end !!! HPDs and Lola are oldies now and curiously they are the one which look better !
From the 2011 brand new LMPs, 908 is the only one to have a pretty good and balanced shape (except the shark fin) IMO.
What strange with the AMR is that if you leave the nose, you have a front-end looking alike 99 Porsche LMP !

It seems yes, suspension failure at top speed (quickest than at Le Mans Test Day) ...

PostSubject: Re: Real endurance Series talk's   Sat 5 Mar - 15:50

lol today i want to start a flame here.

I'm jocking :D i'd like to know if i'm just the only one who likes the MC12 GT1. I'm a BIG fan of this car (i'm a good italian so, i really like all italian supercars), for me is so sexy, so great. And yes, so fast.
IMHO the most important racing car in last years (that's the reason i'd like to see it in endurance mod).
Yes, i know the big dispute with FIA about the "illegal" question but, if for FIA was legal, for me the car is legal. For the ACO was not legal, for me is ok.
Personally situation is not too much far like "Petrol LMP vs. Diesel LMP"; yes there are clear rules about but, IMHO, those rules are too much diesel oriented. Difference between petrol and diesel car is embarassing.
So, what's your opinion? do you like the car? (yes Kyle and Marc, i already know your opinion :chaise: )
start the flame

The MC12 is a nice looking car (small wing does look out of place), but it's getting old.

The Endurers mod is geared more towards ACO style cars, so the MC12 would be out of place.

There are other current/modern cars that would be better suited in the mod.

I do like it. I don't like its narrow rear wing, and pretty much hate the Vitaphone livery. Otherwise it sounds great, looks great, and it's a Maserati! What's not to like?

One of the rare pics with the full size wing:

As for the ES mod, there's little point to make it, considering we most likely will never see MC12 racing in any major international series again.

Yes but, in FIA gt series this car is really important :lol4: i usually drive using this serie, i don't use only ALMS/LMS cars! (for example actually i'm busy at Spa with 07 cars..i'm trying to revive the 24H Spa 2007, i'll try to do a youtube video!).
Anyway, look that photo, this Maserati is SO beautiful. Remembers me a bit the '90 years GT1 protos.

This will be the new spyker for 2012.
Completely new c8 aileron.

I think they won't compete at lms 2011, because they dont want to spend a lot of money in a car that is already finished with improvements, so they are going to build a whole new car.

Its sick imo :)

Yup, they've announced it a long time ago. The car looks great, but I hope they rethink the livery (sides).

the new spyker looks great. And whats even better, they will develop a gt3 car also if customers demand it. With the new rules messing up the lmp cars look from 2011, at least there will be other endurance series to follow with hopefully large grids and many manufacturers participating (Fia gt3 European champonship and Blancpain Endurance Series)
