Slow acceleration with some cars Empty
PostSubject: Slow acceleration with some cars   Slow acceleration with some cars EmptyWed 15 Dec - 22:04

Hey guys, first of all - really nice work with the mod in general and a great update with the service pack. The sounds and feels are fantastic.

I do however have one question/mither.

I don't know if it's just me being a noob but I've noticed to some annoyance, on a few of the cars, even when having my foot flat on the accelerator, the cars are sluggish to accelerate from being stationary.

Usually if you'd put your foot flat, instant wheel spin but for some odd reason with a few of the cars I will have to have my foot flat just to move slightly. I think it's usually slow up to 20mph then after that it's back to normal.

As I say, it's only with a few cars, some I can just spin out straight away.

So, is this a wierd setting or something? I play on the hardest difficulty with no TC or anything like that..but it's kind of annoying if I make a mistake then i lose a few places if trying to come back from a spin as my car is sluggish until 20mph.

slip the clutch to get the cars going, if you try and pull away with the revs down the bottom of the range on some cars you will just bog down.

I see. Guess I will have to properly config my clutch then, I use auto clutch for the moment.

I did try using my clutch but I don't think it was sensitive enough

Cheers

I've always been a user of the clutch so have never experienced what you are, im just taking a guess at thats the problem, other causes could be improperly configured/calibrated throttle.

Not sure if it'd be the throttle as it works for some cars and I only have come across this problem with this particular mod, have no problems with historic GT etc.

I don't even have a clutch pedal (yep, still limping around on an ancient momo). So what i do is put the car in neutral, rev it up to a few thousand rpm's, and then punch in first gear. Not the kindest thing to do to your gearbox, but the virtual ones are made of sturdy stuff and take it (especially as you usually don't do it more than once or twice a session).
Definitely get's your car off the line. Once you get used to it and find the right revs for your car it's even (fairly) smooth.

Why not trying a shorter first gear? :help:

That should help with autoclutch anytime...

Well it's a nice tip but I'm lucky and have a clutch to do that for me :P

I suppose there is that, however I could imagine trying to take some of the corners that require 1st gear could be troublesome to keep steady.

Then use second gear for those corners... but I think you will manage it... I had the same thing about the mod but with all the g25 settings from the readme the clutch works great and it's quite realistic to use...

Other than a few extra buttons on the wheel and lack of sequential option on the shifter they are identical wheels.
